Are you interested in trying out something new with your embroidery machine?  Do you feel like you are stuck in a rut with your embroidery projects?  Come join our embroidery club!  This 10-session club will focus on trying out different techniques on your embroidery machine.  This class is suitable for beginners as well as more seasoned embroiderers who are looking to learn new techniques.  Please note:  Your machine MUST be able to support a 5 x 7 hoop or larger, as certain class projects require at least that size hoop.  Prerequisites: Basic knowledge of machine embroidery and how to operate your embroidery machine.

BASIC SUPPLY LIST
(Please note: This is a basic list of supplies needed for EVERY class.  Each class will have a specific supply list based on the project or technique covered.  Detailed supply lists for the next class will be provided at the end of each session.  Participation in the club will require the purchase of embroidery designs.  Details about needed embroidery designs will be provided at the end of each class session.)

  • Embroidery machine in good working order, embroidery presser foot, power cord, embroidery hoops, embroidery machine manual
  • 5 x 7 hoop or larger
  • Plastic hoop template grid for the hoop you will be using in class (if you have one)
  • Embroidery design(s) needed for class (TBD) (download to a USB stick or onto your embroidery machine)
  • Embroidery thread
  • Embroidery bobbin thread

SUPPLY LIST FOR SESSION #1 (Project: In-the-hoop bag)
 
  • All Supplies listed on the Basic Supply List
  • Embroidery Design:  FREE in-the-hoop embroidery scissors bag by Sweet Pea Machine Embroidery.  Go to www.swpea.com.  Go to “ITH Embroidery Design:.  Click on “Free Designs".  Select “Embroidery Scissors Zipper Case".  There are designs included for a small or large bag.  You can choose to do either one in class (Please make sure you bring the right size hoop for the bag you are making).  Please come to class with the design downloaded to a USB to use with your machine, or download the design to your machine before you come to class.
  • Project Instructions.  A “Scissors Zipper Case Instructions" document will be included with your design files.  Please print this document out and bring to class.
  • Fabric for the project.  See fabric supply list on the project instructions document.  Make sure you look at the supplies listed under the size hoop you will be using.
  • Zipper (a standard nylon zipper, NOT a metal zipper or chunky plastic zipper).  See project instructions document for size.  Select the right size zipper for the size bag you will be making.
  • All-purpose sewing thread (cotton or polyester) for bag construction.  You will use this in the needle and in the bobbin.
  • Embroidery thread in colors that coordinate with your fabric colors.
  • Embroidery bobbin thread
  • Medium weight tear away stabilizer
  • Batting (see project instructions for amount)
  • Size 90/14 topstitch needles
  • Note:  The ribbon and “D" ring supplies on the project instructions are not needed unless you want to be able to hang your scissor case.
